When I have a lot going on my mind refuses to switch off and I end up internalising my stress and becoming unreachable. Recently I’ve been feeling physically AND mentally overwhelmed and a bit out of sorts because I’ve been focusing on how busy I am and how stressed that’s making me. For me stress brings acne breakouts, asthma flare ups and mood swings – which all stresses me out even more as I’m worried about how I look, how I’m acting towards my boyfriend and family and whether or not I’m going to stop breathing on the tube!
STRESS IS STRESSFUL! These last two weeks I’ve been really proactive about getting myself into shape – again physically and mentally! Here’s what’s worked for me:
MAKE A TO-DO LIST
Organisation is key and with all the rushing around I think that’s what I’ve been lacking. I’ve started to carry around a notebook with me and each night crossing off what I was able to get done in the day.
MANAGE YOUR FINANCES
I am terrible with money. I’m the kind of person that doesn’t look at their bank account until the end of the month and then hopes for the best. But I’ve recently downloaded the HSBC banking app which is a an absolute game changer! Having access to my bank account at the touch of a thumb print is oh so very sobering.
TAKE CARE OF YOUR SKIN
I downloaded the INTO App a few weeks ago and there are so many exciting free opportunities for influencers on there. I’ve booked in a facial with the Aveda Salon next week to help battle these pressing skin issues.
JOIN THE GYM
I signed up to MoveGB last week for a two-week trial. This has been amazing as my local gym is on the list and it means I’ve been able to use it for the next two weeks for £1 – bargain!
ORGANISE YOUR HOME
I moved flats in December and because of lack of funds due to Christmas and January blues, we hadn’t bought any soft furnishings or thought about the decor. This month I went a bit wild on the H&M Home website and bought us a load of cushions, vases and a throw. We desperately need to order some art work for the walls so if you know somewhere we can get prints for reasonable prices, please let me know!
BOOK IN TIME WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILY
My response to everyones meet up requests over the last few months has been “I’m just too bust”. You should never be too busy for your friends and family. So I’ve been pencilling in time over lunch, evenings and weekends to see my loved ones but in a chilled out setting like a sleepover or Sunday lunch.
GO ON A DATE
When you live with your partner it is so easy to get stuck in a routine. We have a dog so for us routine is necessary but can be extremely boring. We’ve been making an effort recently to book in some date nights during the week to break it up and also to make sure we’re not living for the weekend like most Londoners! Something I need to work on though is not using my phone so much. I’ve been told it’s a buzz kill…
So this is what I’ve been doing in my life recently to make sure I am a sane human. Have you been stressed recently? What do you do to calm your life down?
